Governance Structure
Steering committee
Created in March 2011, the new GCWA Steering Committee has been tasked with:
- Establishing major organizational policies, annual strategic plan and budget priorities.
- Mobilizing resources.
- Overseeing the GCWA advocacy agenda and programming.
- Mobilizing participation and providing guidance to working groups deemed necessary in support of the work of the Coalition.
- Broadening participation in the GCWA.
- Analyzing emerging issues still absent from the policy agenda, but which could be significant in the future.
Membership in the GCWA Steering Committee is balanced between UN and civil society, and includes representation from country level organizations, networks of women living with HIV, as well as leading experts on women and AIDS. Appointments are initially for a one year term, renewable for up to two years.
Co-chaired by two members, one from civil society and one from a U.N. agency, the Steering Committee is comprised of eleven members.
The current co-chairs are:
