The Global Coalition on Women and AIDS (GCWA) is a worldwide alliance bringing together civil society groups, including networks of women living with HIV, women's rights organizations, AIDS service organizations, faith-based organizations, the private sector, and the United Nations (UN) system. Hosted by the UNAIDS Secretariat, the GCWA was originally established in 2004 with the mission of being a joint civil society-UN platform to mobilize leadership and harness political will to influence policies, laws, programmes, and funds, to promote actions that empower women and girls living with and affected by HIV, to prevent HIV transmission, and to live fulfilling and productive lives. Since its inception, the GCWA has striven to contribute to the strategic positioning of women and girls as integral to the HIV response.
Since the 2004 inception, the GCWA continues to evolve to best meet the needs of women and girls. Currently, the GCWA is redefining and setting new strategic directions to best meet its commitment to partner with diverse stakeholders, including women living with HIV and women representing key populations, to engage in and influence of political decision making processes. You can help inform this process of redefinition by taking a few minutes to complete the survey below. Thank you for your time and contribution to creating positive change for women and girls.
